Welding Fume Control
Did you know that very small welding fume particles can take as much as two days to reach the floor when released from a height of 1.5 metres? The single most effective option is on-torch fume extraction.
Welding particles can remain suspended in the workplace air well after the welder has stopped welding or changed tasks. Fume particles can be inhaled by the welder during and after welding, and also by anyone else entering in the workshop.
To minimise the risk to all staff, extracting the welding fume as close to the source as possible is best. Think of it like a virus – you’re trying to catch a cough or a sneeze to stop particles you can’t see. If you can control the smoke right at the arc, so capturing it at its source, you can remove almost all fume. The single most effective option is on-torch fume extraction. Because the extraction shroud is built into the welding torch it is very close to the fume source at all times – with no disruption or extra effort from the welder. It works while the welder welds.
Fume extraction torches are versatile; they are suited for any application where a regular MIG welding torch is used, TIG and mechanised torch options are also available.
Modern torches do not have the weight and cumbersomeness of the old fume extraction torches and they are designed to work without affecting the weld pool and weld quality.
ABICOR BINZEL welding fume extraction torches are close to the weight of comparable standard welding torches and the slim front ends give excellent access to almost all welding workpieces. Click on this link to learn more about ABICOR BINZEL xFUME PRO Fume Extraction Torches.
Pair the fume extraction gun you choose with an ABICOR BINZEL fume extraction system for the highest rate of extraction possible, designed for efficiency and mobility. Easy to use, safe fume extraction with the weld quality maintained at all times, what more could you want?
